PLANET EARTH…..2012…..DEER IN THE HEADLIGHTS
I have been chatting with some great friends and global futurists lately …among others Jose Arguelles, John Peterson, Emmett Miller, Rick Lukens, and others.
The executive summary is that the next world is mostly created and lies just underneath the crumbling infra-structure of the last world. The industrial age and information age were meant to connect our world with supply systems and common cultural ideas but not to be the model for the coming world which will be decidedly more natural, more distributed, and without big power centers. The shocker is that the world wide web is already a functioning global governing system and any new power center would be a hopeless bandaid. The other shocker is that the old world news systems are seriously failing to serve people because they has a case of hardening of the categories.
We mostly agreed as futurists that people have about ten per cent of the kind of information they need to comfortably enter the next world. The current news, weather, sports, and popular culture model is decidedly not of any real consequence in shaping the world we need.
Among the pieces missing are information about the global overview of living systems. No source of authority really leaves their national orientation and speaks of the planet as the global civilization it already has become. The speed of our evolution using modern electronic communications has historians lying overwhelmed by the roadside. We live in a biosphere not on a planet. The establishment press simply cannot speak about things that would upset the aged generations that still attend the primary media sources for fear the old timers snicker factor would loose them too many paying customers. We live in a galaxy that is now full of new planets and the public hasn’t been made aware of that. Can you imagine? Is there any more important news you can imagine?
Most people on this planet are now aware of a lifestyle that is distinctly global and consists of many many common aspirations and cultural values. Religions are being pushed aside by spiritual principles that cross all boundaries. The wisdom of our elder thinkers is not heeded because technology and power politics has taken over the already shallow pop headlines. Word language has many completely unrecognized mental tyrannies in it and yet the many other language forms go unrecognized as ways to think and proceed into a kinder gentler world. Tone, gesture, stance, energy, and one’s state of being completely trump the value of words on a page. So much for the News!
The inter-dimensional worlds of the subconscious, the dream world, telepathy, wormhole connections, other civilizations in space, celestial connections, spirit guides, and many other numinous advisories are spoken about openly in sub-cultures that view the press and science as entirely too small minded to get what’s really going on and at the speed it needs to be gotten. We are arrogant nations living in a dumb world, with politically limiting beliefs, corporate monopolies that stifle progress, fundamental religions that foment hate, and a school system from the dark ages.
The planet of nations is a failure in the 21st century. The national borders all originally created by plunder are in need of a bioregional barometer. Look at the wars that nations have generated over the last century. World war two proved that groups of nations were needed. The Marshall plan proved that armies were the best reconstruction agencies. Gold isn’t a good measure of a nations wealth … never was…it’s the operable infrastructure a nation has in place to deliver basic services that counts. Wall Street is deluded. Venture capital can work anywhere there is good will, faith in the future, and a communications network. It should be easy in global villages of mixed ethnic treasures so tasty extensive travel is no longer required.
We face a highly volatile world and most people are like deer in the headlights because there is so little useful information to learn from. We don’t hear about the simple value of having good friends who live in the country and grow their own food. We don’t really think of being a part of a family of choice where 12 people can eat half a cheaply as people in pairs. We are completely ignoring the many daily offers from the many forces around us are conspiring to make us a heaven on earth if we can get over fear based politics and get our birth rates under control. We have let the modern world and business speed us up to a point of techno-frenzy and nobody at the level of a public figure can somehow slow the ship down or even speak about the wisdom of pacing ourselves. Go slow …feel more!
The armed forces of planet earth have already begun planning the second great Marshall Plan of all time and that is to join together and restore the biosphere using all the wonderful tools and equipment they already possess. Every single corporation can make at least one paradigm shift to align with the requirements of a new world. The flower children can lead many urban dwellers back into beautiful communites in the countryside where a genuine existence in nature can blossom again as it did for the Native Americans. School kids can mine the web for real life instruction that actually keeps pace with current events.
We know the study where search engines were asked to find new websites for organizations interested in the environment, social justice, and creativity. Two million sites were discovered. That’s like a forest full of seven year old saplings just under the radar. This is the new world sprouting beneath us. When the heavy old world structures come down they will accelerate into action.
So, what are you doing to launch yourself into the next and soon to arrive culture? A strong body and open mind would be a good start. Loving friends and a simple plan to
live together in a sustainable way would be another. Having compassion for might need to fall down around you while creatively working with what emerges would be needed.
This is not the first time the planetary civilization has upgraded to some new software.
The catepillar is always in a panic when it begins to fall into little pieces, never having seen the remains waiting to launch onto a butterfly.
Get in the game. Open your heart to a transition family. Stake out a place in the country.
Get sustainable. Trust the web. Walk away from the old industrial super structure. Imagine the best. We could be close to an unimaginably great future. Take the high road to paradise and don’t settle for the left overs.
